CastelBrando's Nature

Perched on the promontory overlooking the Valmareno, Castelbrando is the starting point for many excursions with varying degrees of difficulty.

You will discover breathtaking views, routes of historical and cultural interest, excellences of the territory, both on foot and by bike.

The 50 hectares of Castelbrando Forest Park, from 400 to 800 meters above sea level, are organized with a series of paths, paths ordered and passable in part both in MTB and especially on foot.

They are also equipped with benches for resting, near the lakes or troughs, to admire the flora and fauna rich: eagles, hawks, roe deer, badgers, squirrels and many others, of this unspoilt nature reserve ( where hunting is forbidden). The routes within the Forest Park are part of the Trees Therapy – immersion therapy among trees in the forest that helps the longevity and immunological abilities of people ( especially after COVID).

Path suitable for everyone on foot, in mountain bike or e- bike to visit the CastelBrando Forest Park

Starting from the gate adjacent to the Claudia Augusta Ice cream shop, located in the panoramic and highest part of CastelBrando, the ring path starts to reach the bombs, ancient artifacts probably of the late Roman or Gothic era, also used in the Great War. Along the way you will find many points of observation and refreshment to enjoy the flora and fauna of the forest park: benches, pond, relaxation area, ancient ramparts.

Benches

Benches and Tables are arranged along the way to rest and enjoy the quiet in the middle of nature.
Useful stopping points for observing plants and trees as well as fauna and birds that populate the Castelbrando Forest Park.

Northern gate

Ancient Northern Passage: this gate regulated the passage of travelers and gendarmerie from Praderadego and the Ancient Via Claudia Augusta 46DC that, since the Roman period, used the Castrum as a place of rest and refreshment.

Ancient ramparts

Ancient remains and fortresses, probably used for the Bombarde also in the Great War (1915-1918).
From the erosion of water on the stones it is assumed that the settlement dates back to the late Roman or Gothic periods.

Little lake and relax area

Excellent refreshment point to stop after a walk surrounded by nature. Remaining in silence can arrive specimens of fauna ( especially towards evening) and local birds in the morning.

Trough

This pool, constantly supplied with fresh water from the springs of Castelbrando, is a refreshment point for the fauna of the place that uses it as a drinking trough especially in the evening and at night

Madonna

Statue representing the Madonna, from whose feet flows a waterfall of water coming from the springs of the castle. Behind the statue, heading north, begins a hiking trail that runs along the ridge of the Castelbrando Forest Park until it joins the Route of the Fairies in the area of the Ancient Bastions.
